Backup codes

Introduction

When it is not possible, for any reason, to use the 2FA method you have set up, back-up codes can be used instead to login.

In your back-up code file, there are ten different 8-digit codes displayed. These codes can each only be used once.

Find the back-up codes

After you set up your two-factor authentication (2FA), you are asked to download the Zivver back-up codes. You should store these back-up codes in a safe folder on your computer where you can easily find them.

If you have downloaded the back-up codes but did not move them to a separate folder, you may find the back-up codes in the following folder on your computer: Users\<username>\Downloads. The standard filename of the file containing your back-up codes contains the words Zivver and back-up code.

Download back-up codes

If you have not downloaded your back-up codes when you set up your 2FA, you can download them later:

  1. Log in to the Zivver WebApp
  2. Go to your personal settings tune
  3. Click Security security
  4. Click SHOW BACK-UP CODES
  5. Click Download
  6. Save the back-up codes in a folder on your computer

Use a back-up code

If you cannot log in with your Authenticator app or with the code by SMS, you can use a back-up code instead:

  1. Login to the Webapp with your email address and password
You are asked to fill in the 6-digit code from the Authenticator app or SMS
  2. Copy one of the 8-digit back-up codes in the input field
  3. Click Verify.
    You are now logged in.
If you are no longer able to use the Authenticator app or code set by SMS, you must immediately reset your 2FA login method after you log in with a back-up code.
