Backup codes
Introduction
When it is not possible, for any reason, to use the 2FA method you have set up, back-up codes can be used instead to login.
In your back-up code file, there are ten different 8-digit codes displayed. These codes can each only be used once.
Find the back-up codes
After you set up your two-factor authentication (2FA), you are asked to download the Zivver back-up codes. You should store these back-up codes in a safe folder on your computer where you can easily find them.
If you have downloaded the back-up codes but did not move them to a separate folder, you may find the back-up codes in the following folder on your computer: Users\<username>\Downloads
. The standard filename of the file containing your back-up codes contains the words Zivver
and back-up code
.
Download back-up codes
If you have not downloaded your back-up codes when you set up your 2FA, you can download them later:
- Log in to the Zivver WebApp
- Go to your personal settings tune
- Click Security security
- Click SHOW BACK-UP CODES
- Click Download
- Save the back-up codes in a folder on your computer
Use a back-up code
If you cannot log in with your Authenticator app or with the code by SMS, you can use a back-up code instead:
- Login to the Webapp with your email address and password
You are asked to fill in the 6-digit code from the Authenticator app or SMS - Copy one of the 8-digit back-up codes in the input field
- Click Verify.
You are now logged in.
