2FA Setup with Microsoft Authenticator

Introduction

How to set up an extra login method for your account with the Microsoft Authenticator app. You set up an extra login method to provide additional security for your account and your messages.

Install an Authenticator app on smartphone

  1. Open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) on your smartphone.
  2. Search for Microsoft Authenticator.
  3. Install the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Set up an additional login method

To link the Authenticator app to your Zivver account, first take the following steps on your computer.

  1. Open your browser.
  2. Log in to the WebApp.
  3. Click manage_accounts Settings at the bottom left of your screen.
  4. Click security Security.
  5. Click the Setup button next to Two-factor authentication for your account (2FA).
    A new window opens.
  6. Enter your password.
  7. Click Verify.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Select the Authenticator App option.
  10. Click Next.
Do you want to set up the authenticator app on multiple smartphones? Then you must save the code you have just received. You will need the code that’s currently displayed on the screen to set the Authenticator app on multiple smartphones. This can be useful if you share an account with multiple colleagues.

Performe the steps of one of the options below on your smartphone.

Option 1: Scan a QR code

  1. Open the Microsoft Authentocator app.
  2. Click the plus icon in the top right corner.
  3. Click Other (Google, Facebook, etc.).
  4. If asked, allow the Microsoft Authenticator app access to the camera.
  5. Scan the QR code on your computer screen.
    The account is now added to the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Option 2: Enter the secret

  1. Open the Microsoft Authentocator app.
  2. Click the plus icon in the top right corner.
  3. Click Other (Google, Facebook, etc.).
  4. If asked, allow the Microsoft Authenticator app access to the camera.
  5. Click Or enter a code manually.
  6. Enter the Account name.
  7. Enter your key from your computer screen.
  8. Click the Finish button.
    The account is now added to the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Go back to your computer to finish the setup.

  1. Click Next.
  2. Enter the code from the Microsoft Authenticator app.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Click Download.
  5. Choose a safe location for the backup codes.
    You have successfully set up an additional login method for your account.
Save the backup codes somewhere secure. You use these codes to log in when the Microsoft Authenticator app is not available.

Log in with the Microsoft Authenticator app

  1. Log in to the WebApp. You are asked to enter the code from the Authenticator app.
  2. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your smartphone.
  3. Enter the 6-digit code that is shown under the account.
  4. Click Verify.
    You have logged into the WebApp with your Zivver account.
