Register for Zivver

How to register for Zivver?

As of 1 March 2022, you cannot communicate with the Rechtspraak (Judicial system Netherlands) by facsimile. An alternative is secure email. Zivver is one of the providers that de Rechtspraak mentions. Refer to Veilig mailen met de Rechtspraak (in Dutch).

Do all the steps to do secure emailing.

Would you rather create an account with a different email address than the one where you received the instructions of Zivver? Then, change your email address in your BAR data. You receive a new invitation email in a few business days. After this, you can do the steps below (again).

Do you already have a Zivver account? Then, go directly to step 3.

Do you communicate directly with the Judiciary (de Rechtspraak)? Or does your secretariat take care of this work? Our platform supports both working methods. You must always first create an account yourself and link this account to your personal a-number. Below is a step-by-step explanation. At the bottom of this page we explain how your secretariat can send secure emails from your account.

Create your own Zivver account

Step 1 Do a check of the email address

Do a check at which email address you received the first message from Zivver. That email address is the email address for which you can create an account.

Step 2 Register for Zivver

Register for your own Zivver account. Go to the Zivver WebApp and do the steps to create an account as indicated.

After you activate your account, you receive an email from Zivver with the recovery code for your account. Save this recovery code. You need this code if you forget your password.

Step 3 Secure your account

Secure your account with an additional login method. (Note: you must be logged in for this.) The information you communicate with the Judiciary is extremely sensitive. Thus, the Judiciary and the Zivver platform require an additional login method to protect your account against unauthorized access.

  1. During the last step of the your account creation, click the CONTINUE button.
you arrive in your Zivver inbox.
  2. Click the SETUP 2FA button.
  3. Obey the steps to set up an additional login method as indicated.

You can choose between two additional login methods:

You can always change your extra login method under the security settings.

As a last step in the configuration of the extra login method, Zivver generates backup codes. Make sure that you can always retrieve them. For example, store them locally on your computer. You need these backup codes if, for example, you lose your mobile phone.

Tip: We recommend setting both login methods so that you have a backup in case you no longer have access to either method.

Link your account to your professional group number (BAR number). (Note: you must be logged in for this.) To communicate with the Judiciary (de Rechtspraak), you must link your professional group number to your account. You only need to do this once. You do this as follows:

  1. Make sure that you set up an extra login method.
The logo of the Rechtspraak appears in your Zivver inbox.
  2. Click on the blue CONNECT ACCOUNT button below.
  3. Enter and confirm your BAR number.
    Include the letter “A”.

If you want to do a double check whether you linked your professional group number, open this page: Matching with occupational group number (BAR/KBvG).

After the steps above, your account is ready for secure emailing with the Judiciary (de Rechtspraak).

Grant your secretariat access to your account

Do you want to grant your secretariat access to your account? When you have completed steps 1 through 4, you can grant colleagues “delegated” access to your account. They can then securely send file documents, or messages on behalf of you to the Judiciary (de Rechtspraak), and other parties. For more information, refer to the instructions.

Note: Your secretarial staff member must first create an account. Tell them to do steps 2 and 3.
