Configure and manage Zivver
Hand over a domain
The administrator can hand over the management of Zivver accounts in a domain that has been claimed by a different organization to that organization. If a domain with Zivver accounts managed by your organization is successfully claimed by a different organization, its status shows as taken in the Domains list.
The administrator account that performs the handover must not be tied to an email address belonging to the domain you are handing over.
For example,
admin@example.com
cannot hand over the example.com
domain.
Thus, it might be necessary to create a new admin account to perform the handover.To hand over the administration of Zivver accounts on the claimed domain to the other organization:
- Log in to the Zivver WebApp with the administrator account of the old organization.
- Click
Organization Settings.
- Expand
General.
- Click Domains.
- Click next to the domain you want to hand over.
- Under Claim status, click .
- Confirm that you want to release the domain by clicking .
Some functionalities, such as SSO and automatic user provisioning, require a claimed domain. Releasing the domain means these functionalities will stop working.
- Log out from the old organization.
- Log in to the Zivver WebApp with the administrator account of the new organization.
- Click
Organization Settings.
- Expand
General.
- Click Domains.
- Click .
- Enter the domain name you want to claim.
- Select one of the 5 default email addresses:
- admin
- administrator
- hostmaster
- postmaster
- webmaster
- Click .
- Check the inbox of the selected email address for a verification email from Zivver.
- Copy the verification code from the email.
- Paste the verification code into the Zivver WebApp.
- Click .
- Log out from the new organization.
- Log in to the Zivver WebApp with the administrator account of the old organization.
- Click
Organization Settings.
- Expand
General.
- Click Domains.
- Click
Manage next to the domain you have just claimed in the new organization.
- Under Claim status, click .
A confirmation window appears. - Enable the checkbox
Transfer all x accounts, remove their email aliases and clear conversation starters from this domain
.Note
The new organization manages the accounts in the handed-over domain, including all functional accounts. The process removes:
- Every alias in the domain.
- Conversation starters that the administrator configured for email addresses in the domain. See Set up Conversation starters for instructions on how to recreate them if needed.
- Click .
After a short pause, the domain you have handed over is removed from the domains list.
The domain change has succeeded.
