Use Zivver Trusted Networks with identity provider for SSO

Can you use the Zivver feature Trusted Networks when you also use an identity provider (IdP) for SSO?

Answer

We advise not to do.

Consider these reasons. - The features Second authentication factor (2FA) is not needed within the trusted networks and Block access outside the trusted networks are also features that your IdP offers. IdP examples include AD FS and Azure. You can also configure them on a more granular level.

  • Hard-coded IP addresses might become a source of error. Then, it means that they must be fixed. If the IP addresses or ranges change, users get a prompt unexpectedly for a 2FA. Thus, they have a bad user experience. If you configure Block access outside the trusted networks, you could also become unable to log in to Zivver.

  • Configuration of IP addresses also seems to decrease in value. The reason is that more users change between mobile devices, laptops, use dual stack (IPv4 / IPv6) or have a VPN when they use the internet.
