Disable the Zivver attachment button for PAMS

With the Zivver attachment button, an end user can add attachments of up to 5 TB to a message in Microsoft Outlook. This process bypasses the mail server. Thus the maximum message size set in your mail server is not the limit.

When you use the Zivver attachment button, the attachment is not added to the message in Outlook. Instead, the Zivver Office Plugin uploads it directly from Outlook to the Zivver Server. The consequence is that the attachment is not processed by your mail server or Secure Email Gateway (SEG).

If it is required that your mail server or SEG process all the outbound attachments, you can disable the Zivver attachment button. But if you disable this button, the maximum message size of your mail server sets the limit of the attachment size.

Procedure

Do these steps on every workspace to disable the Zivver attachment button:

  1. Open this Windows Registry item.
    • Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Zivver\OfficePlugin\Settings.
  2. Create a DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  3. Enter the name EnableZivverAttachmentsWithMailAssistedSubmission.
  4. Double click on EnableZivverAttachmentsWithMailAssistedSubmission.
  5. Enter the value 0.
  6. Close and start Outlook again.

The Zivver attachment button is now unavailable (gray).

Once Microsoft Outlook is restarted the Zivver attachment button will appear grayed out..

If you want to enable the Zivver attachment button again, change the value of EnableZivverAttachmentsWithMailAssistedSubmission from 0 to 1.
